The detour
A table in a former home.
Jordi was in Rome with his girlfriend, their six-month-old daughter, Jone and Federico. He and Federico made the detour to Senigallia for lunch — a city Jordi had once studied in.
A snail salad looked like a living garden, while a deceptively simple pasta with tomato and basil stayed just as clearly in the memory. The day ended as it began: with the train back, carrying one more table into the story.
Sometimes the best lunch is a small journey inside a much bigger one.
